No more Soda :-(
At my doctor appointment yesterday I received a very stern talking to. She was none too happy to hear that I don't drink enough water (and she said ice doesn't count... still can't figure that out- doesn't ice melt into water???). She said I can drink crystal light if I don't like the taste of water, so that's what I've been drinking today (along with plain ol' H2O). I just have a hard time wrapping my head around what the difference is between sugar free crystal light and sugar free soda (other than the carbonated water...) But a second round of antibiotics for a second UTI is enough to convince me I have got to do something different... Now just to get over the withdrawl and headache...

The carbonated water is bad for you, baby. I don't understand exactly how ice doesn't count, it should count, but maybe for less. All the air in it has to go someplace, too.
I will tell you that you need to get stuff that is sweetened with Spenda instead of Aspartame. Aspartame is worse than sugar on your body.
UTI... Urinary Tract? Drink Cranberry juice. Not too much, because they have to sweeten it to get it tasting good, but some every day. It helps. You could also get pills or chewy tablets.
I have the cranberry pills, and the juice I drank yesterday is the half sugar stuff.
I did good today though, I've had 40+ oz of plain water plus 20 oz of Crystal light (all over ice :-) And I'm starting on another 20 oz bottle of water as I type... The first couple days I do okay, then get bored with the plain stuff, and revert to the taste good stuff... So hopefully it will get easier...(hopefully I won't have a stressed out Monday morning to get me off track...)
Have you ever heard of "Blue Sky Soda". On their label it says it's made with real sugar, not fake stuff like high-fructose corn syrup, aspartame, or sucralose. The problem is that your body can't process the fake sugar. Haven't we had this conversation before?
Yes we have had this conversation before :-) But the diet pepsi doesn't affect my blood sugar (making it spike and dive) like things that have "real/natural" sugar. I know I have to change it, but I just haven't found anything that tastes as good to me...I am trying though.
Maybe if you increase your water intake to equal your soda you won't have the UTI issue.
Oh by the way, is it the soda you like or the carbonation? I LIKE carbonation! So sometimes I drink plan carbonated water. I can't spell Perie, it's late!
Try unsweetened fruit teas (b/c the fruit is a natural sweetener) - then you get water AND the really great antioxidants...
I think you just need to drink water. :)
I love you. :)
I think I told you this before, but it took me a while to get used to water after I got pregnant. I like the carbonated stuff...but after a while, I LIKE water, and it's what I want to drink. I only crave the soda every couple days, and then I limit myself.
I stopped buying soda to have at home, so the only time I can get it is to make a special trip - that might help, too.
Good luck! Water is GREAT for you! =) keep drinking it!
I am a Pepsi addict...so I told my Dr. to INSIST that I stop drinking pop. She wrote me out a prescription for "NO MORE PEPSI!" That was two and a half years ago...and I haven't touched one since! I STILL miss the stuff. But, I have lived and now I love drinking water. But...I feel your pain... :)
I have not had a soda in so long, when I ordered one at a restaurant a few days ago, it was too sweet. It made me ill. I can't drink the flavored water, because the aftertaste of the sweeteners bothers me.
I crave sugar, and the fake substitutes make me crave it more. Drinking water does help me not eat so much.
Whatever way you can get more H2O in you, that is what you need to do.
(And for MammaMia: Perrier)
ONE WEEK! CONGRATS :-D
