I need a drinking buddy!

For water that is :-)
Good ol' H2O!
Anyone want to drink with me??? ;-)
I do not drink enough water, and today my body is letting me know about it- big time. I went to the chiropractor at lunch today, and even though my back feels well-adjusted, the muscles are screaming again. I know that's because I don't drink enough. And so when I got back to the office, I filled my water bottle and started drinking- and I've had to pee four times in a little over an hour! Again- bacuase I'm not drinking enough! There are some stretches where I do fairly well, but most days I drink two sodas (diet -over ice at least) and call it good. I KNOW this is not enough, but I don't know how to get myself to drink more water. So maybe, since I've posted about it, I'll do better. (Ususally this helps because I won't want to look like a failure when I have to say "No- I haven't fixed that problem"...we'll see...) Suggestions are welcomed as well :-)

well...I always thought if I found a really cool delivery system for the water...I would be encouraged to drink more.

this has resulted in a giant pile up of various water bottles in the cabinet under the sink.

I'm still rejoicing in my leap to diet soda...let me know if you find a water solution

I don't know why but I find that drinking with a straw helps me drink more water.

Drinking water is nearly second nature for me, and I usually get in my 8 glasses a day easily. My parents were health nuts, when I was a kid, and we weren't allowed to drink soda so I grew up drinking lots of water and milk, and those are my drinks of choice, even today.

A couple suggestions I've heard...
1) drink tea (the kind you brew in hot water with tea bags, not the pre-packaged kind). That's still water, and you're also getting all the nifty antioxidants and health benefits from teh tea, too. Also, tea comes in a variety of flavors. Just remember to go light on the suger. OR, try a fruit tea that already has a slightly sweet flavor.

2) try drinking flavored water. You can do this yourself by adding a bit of lemon (or lime or orange, if you prefer), using a flavored drink mix (though you do need to be careful about what's in the mix), or buy the flavored water already bottled (this is my least favorite option, as the pre-flavored bottles usually have lots of not very good for you chemicals).

Hope these suggestions help!

I used to have a liter bottle at work, I would half fill it at night, and put it in the freezer. Then I would fill it the rest of the way in the morning. I have to have my water so cold, it is getting slushy. Ice, Ice and more Ice, baby.

I now (since I don't work in an office anymore) carry around a huge cup from our local Grill and Bar... they hold 12-16 ounces of liquid. I drink as much as I can. Four to six cups a day is my goal.

I don't order sodas when I go out to dinner. It is too easy to get refills, and you tend to have three to five times more than you would drink if you opened a can.

I can cook and eat real food, not have seconds, and we can both drink lots of water. Accountability Buddies? Sure!

Well, I can relate to the peeing 4 times in an hour, that's for sure!

I was never a water drinker until I got pregnant, and I forced myself to stop drinking so much caffeine. I just stopped buying soda, so my only choices at home were water and milk. Now I WANT to drink water!

I think the straw idea is a good one, I drink a lot more anything through a straw.

As for the drinking buddy part...I'm craving a nice glass of pinot noir, but I guess I'll have to wait!
